Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD

Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD, is a dentist and clinical administrator with experience in general practice, urgent treatment, and quality oversight. He founded Emergency Dentist in late 2022 to increase access to professional care outside typical weekday schedules. He currently serves as Clinical Director for seventeen weekend clinics across five states.
Dr. Nielsen received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon, in 2018. He began practicing in Oregon and later moved to Iowa, where he became the owner of Dentistry 801 Grand in downtown Des Moines. Dr. Taylor Nielsen, dentist and practice owner, established his first weekend clinic within the Des Moines office. He then supported the network’s growth into Iowa, Georgia, California, Arizona, and Arkansas.
In his leadership role, Dr. Nielsen creates clinical guidance for managing dental pain, infections, extractions, and care provided during the initial visit. He has trained and coached more than 100 dentists throughout his career. He also designed an eight-credit continuing education course in urgent dental practice hosted by OHSU.
Dr. Nielsen holds an active dental license in Iowa and is a member of the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Association. Taylor Nielsen DDS may appear in some online listings, although his earned degree is a DMD. He also reviews educational materials published on this website to help ensure families receive clear, accurate, and clinically appropriate dental information.
